Bart Luijten’s Not For A Want Of Trying, is a graphic overview of a graphic designer who, after three decades, is showing his work to the world.

In this graphic monograph, Bart Luijten brings together his three decades of work in a 384-page book. The origins of his work lie in his youth, when he was strongly influenced by fresh punk and new wave soundtracks. In 1990, he graduated from Sint Lucas Antwerp, after which he started working as a independent graphic designer. Rooted in graphic novels, early 1990s zines, Dadaism and post-punk, Luijten developed his own unique visual language. In doing so, he followed the evolution from literal cut-and-paste to the introduction of the first Macs, sparked a wave of independent magazines, all the way to today. As a reflection, It’s time to recollect and mark these episodes. Resulting in a book with a title as dryly, funny as it is fitting.
